It has been 100 years since the Kerala Legislative Assembly Library commenced functioning as a part of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. The Diwan's Office turned into the Legislative Library in 1921. When the Travancore-Cochin State was formed in 1949, the Library became the Travancore - Cochin Assembly Library and was developed as the Kerala Legislative Assembly Library with the formation of Kerala State in 1956. The distintiveness of this Library is that the Kerala Legislative Assembly has a possession of over 1,15,000 books. Similarly, abounding books collections as well as various Commission Reports are also part of the Assembly Library. As part of the centenary celebrations of the Kerala Legislative Assembly Library, we are organizing a week-long International Book Festival and Literature Festival scheduled to be held from 9th January to 15th January 2023 at the Kerala Legislative Assembly Complex. The Book festival comprise around 150 stalls with an active participation of world renowned Book Sellers. We expect that more than 100 publishers will take part in this mega event. The launching of Logo and the Website of International Book Fair will be held on 1st November 2022 at the Sankara Narayanan Thampi Members' Lounge of Kerala Legislative Assembly. It has been decided to conduct an art and cultural evening as part of the International Book Fair and Literature festival. In connection with the program, we are providing Book coupons to school students with the support of Kerala State Higher Education Department by creating a platform for school children to buy various books in this forthcoming Book Fest. We are also conducting quiz competition in off line mode and Book Review, poem recitation, story telling and cartoon competition in on line mode for school- college students and for general public. I request everyone's cooperation for the grand success of this program.
