I would like to welcome all of you to the International Book Festival organising by the Kerala Legislative Assembly as part of the Centenary Year of our Niyamasabha Library. Our library has rare collections of books and archival materials organised since the age of princely states. After the formation of the Kerala state the Legislative Assembly has taken care of this library. Now from 1st November 2022 onwards we have opened this library to the public. An international book fair will also be conducted from January 9 to 15, 2023. National and international publishers will participate in this book fair and the stalls will be arranged in the Niyamasabha campus. Our team have already started the arrangements for this programme. As part of the Anti-drug Campaign by the Kerala Government, the legislative assembly organises programmes to promote reading in the tag line- “Reading is the real intoxication”. There will be special programs like Seminars, discussions, book reviews, book releases and felicitating the writers etc, especially for the students. Several internationally acclaimed writers will participate in this function. The students will get a package to see the Niyamasabha and learn the basics of proceedings. We are also planning to give free coupons for the students to buy the books since there are many organisations came in support with this. We are also arranging a contribution from the developmental fund and library fund of the Niyamasabha for buying the books. The Niyamasabha complex will be decorated with lights on those days of book fest. The timing of the programme will be from 9 am to 8 pm. I request everyone to participate and make the event successful. Thank you.
